“A new optical recording method could pave the way for data discs with 300 times the storage capacity of standard DVDs, Nature journal reports.”
For now, a standard sized DVD disk could only contain perhaps at most 500gb? But for this new researched disk, it can store up to 1.6 terabytes, which is equivalent to 1,600 gigabytes. 300% more than the usual amount!
“The material cost of a disc would be less than five cents (£0.03),” which is a very good thing.
“They describe their method as “five-dimensional” optical recording and say it could be commercialised…The team members described what they did as adding two “dimensions” to the three spatial dimensions that discs already have.”
Researchers have continuously researched and invented technology, never ceases to discover new things and opportunities. To be able to create this disc I guessed that it must have immense researches and studies which perhaps passion and patience could only uncover the secret within it.
